All perfect praise and adorations are due to Almighty Allaah, we seek His help and blessings on the noblest of mankind, Muhammmad ibn Abdllaah al Qurayshee al Hashimee (salallahu alahe wa salam),his noble household,companions and all those who follow them till the day of recompense. Ameen.

INTRODUCTION

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University (MSSNOAU) is the umbrella body of the Muslim students in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife ,Osun State, South Western Nigeria.

The society dates back to the inception of the school itself and has since grown from being a little group of a few individuals to the largest single religious group on OAU campus a membership of around 10,000.

OUR CALL

The call of the MSSNOAU is that of the Salafi Dawah, a call to following the Qur’aan and the Sunnah as understood by the pious predecessors. A call which by the leave of Allaah many now cling to and Alhamdulillaah, the MSSNOAU is widely recognized iin Nigeria as a major centre of the call.

FACILITIES

The Society has mosques and praying grounds numbering 13 all spread across the halls of residence and the academic area. The largest of these mosques is the Awo Hall mosque which with a jama’ah of above 700 is the largest congregational mosque in Southern Nigeria. The society also has a library for both Islaamic and oriental studies. The library today is short of basic materials like computer systems and and books.There is also the Commercial arm of the society which comprises the Al Fat’ha Contributions – a “mini-Islaamic bank – modeled” enterprise.

Thursday Programme –held every Thursday

Daar ul Hikmah –A lesson-like class where topics in Aqeedah, Manhaj, Fiqh, Seerah, Hadeeth and Uloomul Qur’aan are taught in the hall mosques.

Sisters’ circle –Weekly classes and get together of the sisters where issues specific to women are discussed.

Arabic classes-Every weekend at the hall mosques to teach the basis of the Arabic Language.

Qur’aanic classes-where the principles of Tajweed and Qur’aanic memorizations are taught.

Prison visitations– Done to the local prison to help the muslims spiritually and materially and also to call the non muslims to the religion of Al Islaam.

Feed-a-soul programme– A programme done every Ramaadan to provide Iftaar meals to indigent students and prisoners and also other people.

Islaamic Awareness Programme(IAP)- A 10-day Programme organized by the Society every session involving people of knowledge from far and near.

Orientation Week Programme (OWP) – Organized for the new intakes into the university to orientate them about the campus and ultimately to call them to Islaam as understood by the pious predecessors.

An annual publication called An Nuur magazine which teaches Islaam based on the Salafi manhaj.
